Location: Hybrid role based in our Bucharest office (2 days a week in the office)

Overview
You will be a backend infrastructure expert focused on building the core streaming platform, libraries, tools, and developer enablement capabilities. The mission is to streamline the development process for streaming services and ensure their flawless performance in production by tackling the complex challenges of scalability, latency, and reliability head-on.
What you will do
- Develop and maintain streaming infrastructure and design and support a global streaming platform.
- Optimize system performance and conduct research to identify and implement technology improvements across the platform.
- Improve infrastructure observability and build internal tooling to improve visibility into streaming pipelines.
- Provide developer support and training, mentor developers, and provide guidance on how to efficiently and correctly leverage the platform.
- Support production system and collaborate with DevOps peers to investigate production issues.
Requirements
- 8+ years in software engineering with a focus on streaming platforms, distributed systems, or backend infrastructure.
- Expertise in Kafka internals.
- Strong coding skills in Java, Python, or Scala.
- Experience creating and maintaining SDKs, libraries, or developer-facing tooling.
- Proficiency in building observable systems: metrics, logs, tracing, self-healing mechanisms.
- Understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and deployment flows.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.

- Contributions to open source (especially Kafka ecosystem).
- Community involvement – forums, user groups, Slack communities.
- Speaker at summits or meetups.
- Published articles/blogs about streaming, architecture, or dev tooling.
