Lead Backend developer
Action Engine, Belgrade/Novi Sad (hybrid/remote)

ActionEngine is looking for a Lead Backend developer to drive the development of a cloud portal, which is used directly by customers. You'll also build and enhance our observability platform, managing thousands of deployed field devices, and develop backend services that power customer vehicle fleets. Scalability, reliability, and extensibility are at the core of everything we do.

Responsibilities:

🟥Define, build, and operate the next generation of the backbone for our services architecture;
🟥Lead a small team of engineers, setting technical direction and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence;
🟥Build and operate our CI/CD system for physical devices and cloud services;
🟥Use infrastructure as code to operate AWS/Azure deployment at scale;
🟥Practice and enforce best DevOPS, SRE, and Security practices across the whole engineering team;
🟥Work cross-functionally to gather requirements, build consensus on approaches, and develop appropriate technical solutions;
🟥Model best practices in the team, and raise the bar on incident prevention, response, and remediation;
🟥Work effectively with cross-functional teams of engineers and domain experts.

Qualifications:

🔵Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Computer Vision, Electrical Engineering, or a related field;
🔵6+ years of industry experience;
🔵Proficiency in Python (FastAPI/Django etc.);
🔵Experience working with relational, time series, and document databases, including knowledge of SQL;
🔵Experience with Git, CI/CD and software testing;
🔵Proven problem-solving skills; ability to take ownership of issues and driving towards resolution effectively;
🔵Knowledge of best practices in designing, using, and testing web services and APIs;
🔵Being comfortable in an agile, fast-paced environment; ability to organize chaos and leave things cleaner than you found them;
🔵Strong desire to learn and share knowledge, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement;
🔵Comfortable working in an agile, fast-paced environment.
