What you will do
- Collaborate with external partners to choose and optimize autonomous-driving sensors (lidar, radar, camera, ultrasonics).
- Analyze on-road data to identify sensor performance trends and prioritize optimization and debugging work.
- Develop and execute hands-on sensor tests to define vehicle architecture and improve perception performance.
- Define sensor field-of-view requirements and test new vehicle platforms against those requirements.
- Research and evaluate the latest autonomous-driving sensor technologies.
- Support sensor integration onto vehicles, debug issues, and work with the perception team to resolve sensor performance problems.
Requirements
- BS or MS (or equivalent) in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field, plus 5 years of experience in the automotive, aerospace, or related industry.
- Experience defining autonomous-driving sensing systems or deep expertise in one sensing modality.
- Hands-on capability across both hardware and software/data analysis (software experience is a plus, not required).
- Proven ability to build and iterate quickly, including taking ownership and leading projects (formally or informally).
- Experience across product development stages, including early “zero to one” work.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes for both low- and high-volume production, plus strong documentation and cross-functional design review skills.

Salary: $165,000 - $220,000 USD (base salary range for SF/Silicon Valley location)
