Senior Software Engineer (Kafka)

Focus on building high-throughput streaming data platforms, integrating with Flink/NiFi, and solving complex distributed systems challenges.

Location: Budapest, Hungary (Hybrid). This role is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

What you will do

• Define the roadmap and implement features to make Kafka more robust and supportable for enterprise customers.
• Extend monitoring and management capabilities of the streaming platform.
• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks, tools, and CI/CD processes.
• Integrate Kafka with other platform components such as Apache Flink and NiFi.
• Design and implement large-scale streaming data processing platforms for on-premise, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide root cause analysis for production systems.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in designing, developing, and testing software solutions.
• Strong proficiency in Java and the Java ecosystem.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka or other distributed messaging technologies.
• Experience with Python for automation or backend development and Linux environments.
• English: Excellent verbal and written communication skills (C1) required.
• Work Authorization: Must be based in Hungary; the role is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCE).
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm.
• Experience in designing and debugging multithreaded and distributed systems.
• Experience in open source software development.
