What you will do

• Define and lead the architectural strategy for generative AI across the platform.
• Design the AI platform layer including model orchestration, RAG patterns, and evaluation pipelines.
• Establish experimentation frameworks to optimize AI models and retrieval strategies.
• Own the Architecture Review Board to define governance, standards, and decision criteria.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Mentor senior engineers and contribute to growing the architecture practice.

Requirements

• Must be based in the US
• 10+ years of software engineering experience with a track record in principal or staff architect roles.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying LLM-based applications in production.
• Deep knowledge of vector databases, embedding pipelines, RAG, and model evaluation frameworks.
• Proven ability to influence without direct authority and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI and data governance.

Nice to have

• Experience in EdTech, higher education, or scaled SaaS environments.
• Familiarity with modern data or AI platforms like Databricks or Optimizely.
• Experience building internal developer platforms to improve team velocity.
