What you will do

• Set and evolve the architectural direction of the platform across UI, backend services, and database performance.
• Establish engineering standards for code quality, system design, and security to ensure scalability and reliability.
• Act as a technical thought leader, guiding long-term planning and resolving complex cross-pod technical challenges.
• Partner with Product and Design leads to assess feasibility and strategy for innovative initiatives.
• Mentor engineers at all levels and lead initiatives to grow the team's technical craft.
• Champion performance, observability, and incident response to maintain platform reliability.

Requirements

• Must be based in the U.S.
• 12+ years of hands-on development experience with a significant portion in technical leadership or architecture.
• Extensive full-stack experience in Ruby, Python, or JavaScript/Node.js with deep expertise in at least one.
• Proven track record of designing scalable, resilient systems for enterprise SaaS products.
• Proficiency with MVC frameworks like Rails or Django and modern front-end frameworks like React or Vue.js.
• Deep experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and cloud deployment (AWS, Heroku).

Nice to have

• Expert-level knowledge of Ruby on Rails and RSpec.
• Experience with Postgres database administration and site reliability operations.
• Background in fundraising, crowdfunding, fintech, or payments technology.
• Experience defining engineering standards and observability across an organization.
