What you will do

• Architect, design, and manage the development of innovative Layer1 features using C, C++, and Python.
• Develop control software for a variety of forwarding engines, connectors, and gearboxes.
• Build instrumentation and telemetry tools to track physical link health parameters for operator troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with Optics and hardware teams to define and implement standards for new media.
• Provide technical leadership across projects and mentor junior engineers.
• Work with Customer Support and System Test Engineers to analyze and fix complex network problems.

Requirements

• Must be located in or able to work from Vancouver, BC, Canada.
• Degree in CS, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering with corresponding experience (BS + 8 years, MS + 6 years, or PhD + 3 years).
• Expert knowledge of C or C++ and Python.
• Proficiency with UNIX or Linux environments.
• Strong problem-solving and software troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to design and implement features independently within small teams.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of digital communication technologies, such as modulation and signal encoding schemes.
• Understanding of IP networking and/or distributed systems.
• Experience working with low-level hardware components.
