TL;DR
Senior Data Engineer (AWS/Databricks): Designing and building scalable data foundations for the Rabo Online Platform with an accent on pipeline reliability, data quality, and cross-platform insights. Focus on developing transformation logic, managing orchestration in a cloud-native environment, and ensuring system scalability for 160+ squads.
Location: Must be based in the Netherlands and have the legal right to work in the Netherlands. Hybrid role based in Utrecht.
Salary: €5,030 – €7,183 gross per month (scale 09).

What you will do
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data ingestion pipelines for the Data Loom platform.
- Develop transformation and enrichment logic to produce clean, reliable datasets.
- Package ETL pipelines into Python wheel files and manage orchestration using Databricks and AWS.
- Monitor pipeline health, build alerting, and maintain high data quality standards.
- Collaborate with platform service teams to define data contracts and schemas.
- Contribute to the design of scalable, governed data models aligned with enterprise standards.
Requirements
- Must be located in the Netherlands with the legal right to work in the Netherlands.
- 3–6 years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer.
- Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and PySpark for large-scale transformations.
- Proven experience with Databricks or the Delta Lake/Lakehouse paradigm.
- Experience building and operating ETL pipelines in a professional setting.
- Ability to translate technical requirements between engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience with GraphQL for data exposure.
- Familiarity with internal developer platforms or platform engineering.
- Understanding of enterprise data integration patterns like event-driven ingestion or CDC.
- Experience working in regulated financial services environments.
- Affinity with AI/LLM-driven analytics.
