What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and web applications.
• Develop real-time web applications for audio and SMS patient communications.
• Implement and operate fault-tolerant, long-running workflows for asynchronous processing.
• Collaborate with frontend, product, and infrastructure teams to deliver compliant systems.
• Ensure system reliability through robust failure handling and idempotency.

Requirements

• Must be able to work on-site in NYC or Vancouver.
• Proven experience building highly available backend applications in a regulated environment.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python.
• Experience with Node.js, Express, Mongoose, and Twilio.
• Experience with distributed workflow orchestration systems like Temporal.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals.

Nice to have

• Experience with healthcare technology, HL7, FHIR, or EHR integrations.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
• Experience working in a monorepo setup.
• Exposure to DevOps practices and distributed data processing frameworks.
