Senior Software Engineer, Fullstack Web Development – GCP & Vertex AI Focus (GCP/AI)

TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Fullstack/GCP): Building high-impact web products and intelligent search capabilities using Google Cloud Platform and Vertex AI Search with an accent on semantic retrieval, scalable API design, and customer engagement. Focus on implementing RAG-based search experiences, optimizing fullstack performance, and designing an enterprise-wide unified discovery platform.

Location: Hybrid in Austin, Texas (expected in office 3-4 days per week). Must be based in the US and not require immigration sponsorship.

What you will do

• Develop fullstack web applications integrated with GCP-native services such as Cloud Run, GKE, and BigQuery.
• Design and implement AI-powered search experiences leveraging Vertex AI Search and semantic retrieval.
• Lead engineering efforts across planning, architecture, and execution, while mentoring junior engineers.
• Build robust, secure APIs and backend services that expose search and recommendation capabilities to clients.
• Investigate and resolve performance bottlenecks across the browser, edge, and cloud services.
• Collaborate with UX and Product teams to design search-centric interfaces including autocomplete and facets.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional web application development experience.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and backend languages (Java, Python, or server-side JS).
• Hands-on experience operating production workloads on GCP (Cloud Run, GKE, Pub/Sub, etc.).
• Experience with AI-powered search or recommendation systems, ideally Vertex AI Search.
• Must be based in the US and not require immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Experience with ReactJS.
• Knowledge of Adobe Experience Manager, Akamai, or Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with Helm, Terraform, and ArgoCD.
• Expertise in LLM/embedding-based retrieval and RAG.
