What you will do

• Perform validation of Higher-Weighted Diagnosis Related Groups (HWDRG) reviews.
• Review electronic and scanned medical records to compare submitted codes with documentation.
• Maintain concurrent entry in the case review information system for all selected cases.
• Interact with physicians to obtain pertinent medical input impacting coding decisions.
• Compose letters to providers explaining review details and recommending code changes.
• Protect patient confidentiality through strict compliance with HIPAA and HITECH.

Requirements

• Senior-level inpatient hospital coding experience.
• Advanced knowledge of ICD-10 codes and the DRG classification system.
• Unrestricted credentials of RHIA, RHIT, or CCS recognized in the US.
• Ability to summarize medical facts and coding principles in plain language.
• Experience using Encoder, Grouper, and AHA Coding Clinic tools.
• Availability for extended work hours, including weekends and holidays.
