Materials Engineer (Aerospace): Supporting R&D development and scale-up of ceramic matrix composite (CMC) fabrication processes with an accent on composite layup and densification for thermal protection systems. What you will do
- Support composite layup, shaping, and densification operations to deliver TPS demonstrator parts.
- Own all process QA data collection activities and manage the associated database.
- Conduct characterization of finished C/SiC goods to assess performance and inform development strategies.
- Operate prepreg layup, compression molding, filament winding, curing, resin infiltration, and pyrolysis systems.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and standardized operating procedures.
- Support the installation, maintenance, and scale-up of pilot-line manufacturing hardware.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Familiarity with materials characterization techniques such as mechanical testing, SEM, and metallographic mounting/polishing.
- U.S. citizenship, national, or lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder) status is required for ITAR compliance.
- Ability to work independently in a hands-on engineering environment.
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when necessary.
- Ability to lift more than 50lbs and travel up to 30%.
