TL;DR

Safeguarding Lead (Medical): Managing a caseload of complex mental health patients and overseeing organisational safeguarding and clinical governance with an accent on risk assessment and patient safety. Location: Hybrid (London/Reading). Must be able to travel to London or Reading at least 1 day per week or more on a needs basis.

What you will do

• Manage a dedicated caseload of complex mental health patients and coordinate specialist follow-up care.
• Liaise with external GPs and NHS Mental Health Services to ensure a joined-up approach to patient safety.
• Act as the organisational Safeguarding Lead, driving excellence through policy development and framework oversight.
• Conduct deep-dive clinical reviews for high-scrutiny cases and lead complex safeguarding investigations.
• Provide expert guidance, training, and supervision to the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) on complex mental health queries.
• Refine mental health screening protocols and risk management frameworks.

Requirements

• Valid and active registration with NMC, HCPC, GMC, or GPhC.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical experience focusing on mental health care and complex risk assessment.
• Proven experience in clinical auditing, risk management, or safeguarding lead responsibilities.
• Robust understanding of mental health medications and dual diagnosis management.
• Ability to travel to London or Reading at least 1 day per week.
• Proficiency in using digital platforms for video consultations and electronic patient records.
